Games Asher’s Played

I actually have a “web series” of my adventures in my Animal Crossing: New Leaf town available with episode listings.

pokemongo

Pokémon GO has been a bit of an experience.  I know that the chance for certain Pokémon to appear in certain places is high or low.  I know that I won’t necessarily catch all the Pokémon sticking to my regular paths, but at the same time that makes the different Pokémon that much more special.  Fortunately, I go to different areas sometimes, however lately I haven’t been able to get to too many new places these days, but hopefully I can get to walking more around Old Town.  You’ll know I live in a very populated area, so I run into all sorts of things.

I actually have a “web series” devoted to my Pokémon GO adventures as well available with an episode listing.

castlevaniasotnCastlevania: Symphony of the Night

One of my all time favorites. The Metroidvania-ness in this game is perfect. The graphics are superb, and even when IGN reviewed it as a classic it got 5 out of 5 stars. Make sure you get both castles, don’t let the ‘first’ ending fool you!

grandiaGrandia

I put 140+ hours into this game. That’s longer than a 72 hour hold! So, in essence… I played this game for six days straight. I wish they still made games this long. Good game, though the last battle is a bit off. Loved the story!

grandiaDragon Warrior

This is one of the games, after years and years, I sold at Games Ahoy in Loveland. Back in the hey day, when it came out, it was big news. I remember my brother playing it all the way through, and this was without any guides. Grinding is paramount in this game, but at the same time, it was enjoyable. Near the end money is no longer an object what-so-ever, I had tons of it. I did actually go by a guide, but that only shortened the game. I could’ve done it without one. Those memories of my childhood are nice, and which is one of the reasons I kept the game, but it is now lost to the sands of time.

lunarLunar: Silver Star Story

I enjoyed this game quite a bit, but it’s truly not that great of a game honestly. The battles are a little strategic, and it’s extremely satisfying to gain levels, but the emphasis is more on the story and occasional animations.

lunarParasite Eve

This was a good game. I really liked the different battle system that combined both real time action and turn based strategy. The funky setting was a nice change of pace from more traditional JRPGs.

lunarMother (NES)

This was an interesting game. It suffers from the usual problems and somewhat monotonous gameplay most NES role-playing games have. However, it makes up for it in terms of character. The setting is interesting. All the towns are actually the same size as the normal map, which is interesting. The sci-fi feel to the whole game is enjoyable.

lunarArc the Lad I

Despite having never seen the anime at all, I played this as part of the Arc the Lad collection. I’m working through the rest of the collection, as you can probably see in my sidebar. This game was good, and stilted a bit. I had to level up my characters through grinding, which was fine, I like to grind to a certain degree. However, the methods involved in grinding can make some battles drawn out more and more.

Clock Tower Series

This game actually was released for the Super Famicom in Japan.  I don’t believe it ever actually enjoyed a full release in North America.  However, a beautiful translated version exists out there on the internets.  I’ve always liked the Clock Tower series… at least the games I’ve played as to the date of writing this, being Clock Tower for the SNES, Clock Tower for PSX, and Clock Tower II.  I’m hoping to play more as I progress through this review/play through.  This is my first entry in my Lets Play Classics series where I explore a game (series) in full through Let’s Play videos.  I’m hoping to chronicle all of the Clock Tower series in this manner.
