State of the Project (Plus Pictures!)
So it’s time I take stock of all my projects and future plans. I have several projects all going at once, and I keep thinking of other things I can do. So many things! Why did I ever think it wasn’t worth it?
First off, my blog… check check good good. I’ve been wanting to do a slice of life blog for a long time, and now, I’m actually doing it. Well, that wasn’t so hard. I’m having fun doing it, so that’s all that matters.
Next up, Primus2(Falcraft). I’ve been publishing stuff that I’ve already written and already programmed. There’s more to be published that’s already been written elsewhere coming up on the blog. The real question at this point is what am I going to do when what’s been written is run out and I have to write more. Well, I think I can do it, I got more programming stuff I’ve made that needs explanation, so I’ll have that.
Now, Poochie Cures Cancer. That’s a piece of work! What’s been published so far is pretty canonical original material. It was being hosted for a while at poochiecurescancer.com but I decided that was too isolated. There’s more to publish and that’ll come out in the next couple of months, but it also, like the programming, has been pre-written. Can I keep it up after I run out of pre-written material? I think so. We’ll see.
Then, there’s some new projects on the horizon, some of which I think I can do on a regular basis. I want to make a game called Simple Quest. Simple Quest is a really old idea, but in essence it is a satirical / parodical JRPG, conceived before the days of RPG Maker. I tried to make my own JRPG engine to run the dang thing, and that’s where I got hooked to Nine Inch Nails. That’s also where I implemented my ‘pooling data collections’ method of garbage collection (the one the guy at CU said was good enough for me to progress immediately to data structures). Now with RPG Maker MV, it’s possible to share these JRPG creations on the web! I was inspired by Maus putting up his Grinners and Losers prologue demo using the same engine. I think it could be an episodic thing, that would shrink it down into bite size creations that maybe I could produce once every two to three months?
I would also like to exercise my drawing ability and I think I’ll make a web comic. That’s right, I want to make a comic! Nothing like twice or once a week or so. Maus is working on his own comic / world called Grinners and Losers. So, I can draw now, why don’t I make a furry comic? What could I call it… what would it be about… I know, my best subject: my life! It’ll be produced whenever I feel like it so there’s no schedule, but it’ll all be on this blog, so give it a peek. I call it My Life as a Furry Comic. Of course. (I think it’ll be furry, but in a manga-ish type way to start out so it’s easier for me).
Then, of course, there’s the most pressing (and I list it last!) engagement of frbt.co, the furry URL shortener I’ve built. I need to integrate subscription plans into originalpursuitssoc.com membership functionality. If you’re a member of OPS then you’re automatically a member and logged in to the child sites, such as this one, and frbt.co. The idea is that you’ll get advertising on your URL shortening site(s), but if you pay like $3 a month premium, you get no ads and a few other features. Plus a percentage of proceeds will go to support other furry sites as well, strengthening the community. The other thing is I need a logo and an icon. I’d normally turn to Maus for this, but he’s pretty busy so he may or may not do it at all. I definitely need a furry icon. The URL shortening icon I have now is so stale:
Any thoughts or ideas?
If you’d like to learn more about the Original Pursuits Society, of which I am a cofounder, you can do so at originalpursuitssoc.com. For those that know me way back, think of it like TCO except way better and with it. I’m looking for additional members to try to get it off the ground.
And finally, I of course have WAAY to many game design ideas. Those I’ll work on when the fancy strikes me, but currently, the outlooks are a little slim. I’ve got some great ideas that I’ll be working on, but they won’t be serial like the other things I’ve mentioned here.
So, I’ve got projects that I can update periodically: my video games (Tomodachi Life, Animal Crossing: New Leaf / Happy Home Designer), Primus2Falcraft (when I think of things to program), Poochie Cures Cancer (funny shit!), Simple Quest (for the gamers out there, you know who you are), and My Life as a Furry Comic. WOW! I probably won’t start all of these post-by-post projects all at once. I’ve got the programming and Poochie going successfully right now, but I’m coasting on already made content. The video games are coming along nicely as well, I am interested in expanding my Tomodachi Life but that’s another post. We’ll see how easy it is to make the game and comic… it’ll probably be a lot harder than I think.
Alrighty, well I have a few pictures to share as well from my recent adventures.
I went to the new mall downtown. It’s REALLY fancy! I caught these two pictures walking around this time:
I’ve never seen a bra with a zipper before o.O. But, I guess it’s a thing. A little provocative if you ask me, but then again, I kinda have a thing about zippers… oh my!
Then, the most awesome enormous tree:
This tree is REALLY big. The thing is I didn’t get it with Captain and I in front of it. Maus got that one, and we all know about getting stuff from Maus. I hope I don’t have to wait another two and a half weeks for my latest fursuiting outing.
Before I went to the mall though, we were doing some Christmas shopping for a child off the Christmas tree at Maus’ work. So, we were walking through Walmart getting some beading, basic jewelry, and a basket ball. We made sure there wasn’t some kind of toy we didn’t know about that she wanted, but there wasn’t any in the toy aisle. But there was this abomination:
There are so many things wrong with this! First, who thought of this? Then, the girl in the picture has purple hair. Why!? Where do the charms come from? What happens when you run out? And the button eyes… like something out of Coraline. The button eyes are just creepy.
On my way to Starbucks from my appointment with Mary, I got a glimpse of this clever sign outside of Old Chicago’s in Old Town:
My nephew just went and saw the Lion King. He’s enamored with the title song. In fact, when we were visiting the childhood home for Thanksgiving he wanted Papa to sing it. He even demonstrated. I imagine Papa singing it, well, no I can’t imagine Papa singing it.
